2022 Small Cities Conference

2022 Small Cities Conference
Cities in the state of Georgia with a population of 5,000 or less make up over 75% of all Georgia cities and those with a population of less than 10,000 make up over 83%. Small cities are the foundation of our state’s economy, our history, and our sense of community. GMA’s 2022 Small Cities Conference will be like no other. Last held in 2019, due to the pandemic, this year’s theme will be “Connecting for Success”.
During this two-day conference, cities will make connections with key organizations and our sessions will focus on topics that can help small cities revitalize, grow, and prosper while preserving their history and sense of community.

The Small Cities Conference will focus on the following topics:
* Redistricting-GIS Mapping & overview of Regional Commission Services
* Georgia City Solutions
* Public Safety & Risk Reduction
* FEMA/GEMA-Disaster Mitigation: What You Need to Know to be Prepared
* Downtown Development/Economic Development 101 & Development Success Stories
* Community Designations, What They Mean and How They Can Help Your City
* Environmental Overview & Impacts
* How to Stay Out of Hot Water-Legal Overview of Most Common Mistakes Cities Make
* Budgeting and Compliance

Grant Opportunity:
Georgia City Solutions, Inc. (GCS) is a non-profit subsidiary of the Georgia Municipal Association
(GMA) created to establish and support new and innovative programs, solutions, and research to
build vibrant, economically prosperous, and well-managed cities, and improve the quality of life
of municipal residents. With the overarching goal of addressing intergenerational poverty, the
GCS Board of Directors has identified youth leadership development and engagement, municipal
workforce development, and equity and inclusion as its three pillars of focus.

GCS is providing a $150 Small Cities grant to six eligible cities that have at least one person
